Summer Programs for the Gifted
Grades 4-7

Overview of the NNRGS Program

Focus: The NNRGS uses a multidisciplinary curriculum to convey humanities and arts. Areas for enrichment include communications, changes and trends as well as the individual's varying roles within the global, technological community and the natural world. Though students may repeat courses titles, a four-year cycle of themes allows students to return to the Governor's School (in all grades served) without repeating course content.

Philosophy and Goals: Gifted students have unique needs, characteristics and talents. The role of gifted programs is to help students, parents and teachers effectively address those needs. Gifted students need opportunities to work with intellectual, creative and artistic peers. The educational opportunities at the NNRGS are designed to provide learners with challenges and activities commensurate with their aptitudes and interests. Activities at the Governor's School meet or exceed Virginia's Standards of Learning.

Schedule:  The NNRGS program operates during the first full week of August each year.  Students attend from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, with an early evening open house on Friday.  Check the Application Information site for further information.
