Welcome to Westmoreland County Public Schools

Beginning September 5th, Westmoreland County Public Schools will be implementing The Attendance Intervention Toolkit.  According to the U.S. Department of Education, “Chronic Absenteeism in the nation’s schools is a hidden educational crisis.”

As parents, we know you are concerned about your child’s education and attendance at school.  This program is designed to keep you informed of your child’s attendance.  You will continue to receive an automated phone call when your child is not present at school.  In addition, if your child misses 3 days whether excused or unexcused you will receive a digital postcard describing those absences.  The post card will arrive via text message or email.

This will give you the opportunity to review the days missed and to question the school if you see a discrepancy.  Post cards will also be sent at 5 days, 10 days, 15 days and 20 days.

When students attend class, they’re more likely to succeed.  In fact, attendance is one of the most important factors in student success.  Improved attendance rates directly connect to better academics and graduation rates.

We hope you are looking forward to the implementation of this new program as we work together to improve attendance in Westmoreland County.   Below is an example of the digital postcard.
